Advanced Train Management System
Lockheed Martin's Advanced Train Management System (ATMS) distils a military-derived navigation system with contemporary 3G communications to enable rail freight operators improved visibility of the location of trains along lengthy stretches of track. This enhanced visibility supports improved track utilisation or operating efficiencies, while also improving safety for train operators.
Lockheed Martin is developing the ATMS in partnership with the Australian Rail Track Corporation (ARTC). The system completed its proof of concept stage in early-2013, with engineers now addressing critical safety cases before being considered for roll-out across ARTC and other rail freight operator networks.
